Ken Ishii has spent much of the past few years in studios in various countries putting together tracks featuring collaborations with some of his favourite artists including Deckweck, 23 Skidoo, Talvin Singh and Mekon. At certain moments in the last decade dance music culture has achieved a true aesthetic subversion by projecting pure strains of what used to be called the avant garde into the mainsteam. And perhaps more than any othercurrent composer its KEN ISHII, Japan's eunderkind of post-techno 21st century digitones, who has consistently displayed this rare alchemical ability to transmute experimental electronica into commercial success.
In the space of just six years Ken has moved from initial sound sketches using an old hardware sequencer at his Tokyo home through to international stardom. In the process he has sculpted a couple of definitive albums: his debut 'Innerelements' which was followed by the world-wide success of his second LP, 'Jelly Tones'. The new album, Ken's third under his own name (he has released other material as Flare, Rising Sun and Yoga) is yet to be titled although he promises "It"s going to be something that expresses musical mixture as an advanced state of creativity in my way."
