|  KOSOVO REFUGEE BENEFIT A HUGE SUCCESS APRIL 1999 SCALA, A FAT REDESIGN MARCH 1999 THE HISTORY OF THE SCALA MARCH 1999 SEAN MCLUSKY, THE LEGEND MARCH 1999 | | | SCALA, A FAT REDESIGN MARCH 1999 Founded in 1993 in order to pursue urban scale art projects and research the cross fertilisation of architecture with other visual disciplines, Fat (fashion architecture taste) is a unique, cross disciplinary architectural practice made up of architects, artists, graphic designers and film makers who collaborate on architecture and fine art projects. Influenced by current practices in fine art, advertising and film - and making full use of modern electronic and computer technology in both the conception and implementation of projects - Fat's architecture seeks to invent new exciting environments for living, working and playing in the city. Following the completion of a number of built projects, Fat enjoys a burgeoning reputation for the successful implementation of innovative, contemporary architectural design. They have extensive experience in the implementation of sophisticated medium scale building contracts which incorporate fine workmanship, quality finishes and inventive use of materials. They are also experienced in the integration of complex structural, mechanical and electrical installations into building projects which incorporate computer programmed ambient lighting systems and extensive use of structural glass. Fat are also able to offer a range of other design, management and technical skills in house. These include graphic design, exhibition design, computer imaging, CAD, the organisation of prestigious large scale urban art events and the integration of fine art into the urban environment. They are currently collaborating with renowned cultural institutions such as the ICA in London and the Technische Universitat in Vienna and have previously implemented events and exhibitions at prestigious cultural festivals such as the Venice Bienalle and the Edinburgh International Festival. Fat's work has been published in a diverse range of magazines including ID, The Face, Dazed and Confused, and Time Out, as well as the national press and architectural publications such as Building Design, Blueprint, Architectural Design and FX.
